DePaul PRSSA is home to many active and successful members. Every quarter the Executive Board chooses one member who exemplifies a high-level of commitment to the organization and shows high ambitions for the future. This quarter the board chose Ayanna Shelby for her consistent involvement in the chapter and the great example she sets for younger members.
- What inspired you to get involved in PRSSA?
I was inspired to join PRSSA because of my determination to succeed. I knew that PRSSA would provide me with the resources I needed to prepare for a career in Public Relations.
- How have you been involved in PRSSA?
I have been involved with PRSSA by attending weekly meetings as well as joining the special events committee within the organization, helping to organize events.
- How has PRSSA helped your professional development?
PRSSA has given me many opportunities. In just the short time that I have been an active member, I have gone on two agency visits, I had the opportunity to work as an Assistant Event Liaison to a lifestyle/beauty and media personality and just recently I received my first internship opportunity.
- Favorite part of PRSSA?
My favorite part about PRSSA is that I am able to connect with my peers. It can be so easy to get caught up in school and work that you miss out on making connections. Through our meetings and events, PRSSA allows me to take a step back from my busy schedule to make friends and do things I enjoy.
- What is your dream job?
My dream job would be working at a major ad agency such as Ketchum or on the community outreach for a professional sports team.
- Favorite movie?
My favorite movie is Pan’s Labyrinth by Spanish filmmaker Guillermo del Toro.
- Favorite TV show?
My favorite show would be anything that comes on the Investigation Discovery Channel. Deep down inside I have a passion for crime and justice. Fun fact, my major was originally criminal justice.
- Favorite thing about Chicago?
My favorite thing about Chicago is its diversity! Chicago allows you to immerse yourself in a variety of cultures through various neighborhoods.
In conclusion, Ayanna, our entire chapter would like to thank you for your work this quarter and we cannot wait to see where you will go in the future.
